Hello Everyone,
Take a look at the productive week we had last week.
We extended our thinking and applied what we knew about linear measurement to why and how we would want to find the perimeter of something.

The class was explicitly taught that when measuring objects or space, there is a difference between the perimeter of something and the area of something. Step 1: Do we need to know perimeter or area? Step 2: What are the units of measurement being used that I need to continue solving the problem with? Step 3: use the strategy that you are most comfortable with to come up with an accurate answer.

In Language, we have been looking at the interesting introductions that many of our adventure story read alouds begin with. This has set us up nicely to do some shared writing on adventure stories next week.

We have also learned the steps and practised how to look up words in a dictionary. Some students are still confused about the process. This would be a fun and easy activity to reinforce at home.

We have started our Growth and Changes in Plants. What better way to observe these expectations than to plant our own bean seeds. Ask your child why no soil is needed or seen in these photos.

This week's homework looks very different. Your child will need your help to fill in the worksheet. This is a great opportunity to answer any of those questions your child may have. Some were confident enough to ask me in a class discussion but I deflected some of them to be answered at home by a parent.  If you can add a real photo on the bottom of this page in the homework book, great! It will be returned to you but, if not, an illustration is just as good. I can't wait!
